Terence Blanchard is an acclaimed jazz trumpeter, composer, and conductor born in New Orleans in 1962. A former member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, he has built a prolific career spanning jazz performance, film and television scoring, opera composition, and education. An eight-time Grammy winner and two-time Academy Award nominee, Blanchard is recognized for his boundary-crossing artistry and works addressing social justice and American history.
