José James is a composer and baritone vocalist who artfully blends contemporary jazz, hip-hop, soul, and R&B. Born in Minneapolis in 1978, he studied at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and has released critically-acclaimed albums on labels including Brownswood, Blue Note, and his own Rainbow Blonde Records. A versatile performer and collaborator, he has performed with McCoy Tyner, Robert Glasper, and major orchestras worldwide.
