Bobby Watson

Bobby Watson is a multi-Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and educator born in Lawrence, Kansas. After formal training at the University of Miami, he served as musical director of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers from 1977-1981, contributing to more than a dozen recordings. A prolific recording artist and bandleader of acclaimed groups including Horizon and the 29th Street Saxophone Quartet, Watson has issued over 30 recordings as a leader and composed more than 100 original works, while serving as a distinguished jazz educator.
